That being said, do not buy the "authentic pins". All of my strings/odds and ends come directly from there. I can't wait.įirst off, i'll preface by saying Elderly is absolutely amazing. I never like Martin's "factory" strings either, so when I'm having the "D-28A 1937" set up at Dave's, the strings, the pins, and undoubtedly the string height will all be changed. For the "D-28 Authentic 1937", I intend to have the pins ready to go when the guitar arrives in La Crosse. Personally, I have no issues with Martin putting cheap bridge pins on their expensive guitars (although it does seem illogical), because I order replacement pins from Bob Colosi for every new Martin that I buy. I'm going to guess that on this model I want my replacement pins to be the "unslotted" ones, but I'm really not sure.Īs a side question, would an original 1937 Martin "D-28" have had a slotted bridge? Any help on either question would be appreciated. My question is, for the "D-28 Authentic 1937", do I want to order the pins WITH or WITHOUT slots? I've looked at the spec sheet on the Martin website, but it gives no indication as to whether the Ebony bridge is slotted or not. All my "Authentics" and my Martin "Custom Shop" guitars get Bob's pins. For Martin "D-28"s I always order replacement bone bridge pins with 4mm Ebony dot inlays from Bob Colosi in St. I have a "D-28 Authentic 1937" on order from Dave's Guitar Shop in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
